The First Unit of the Anti-Money Laundering Authority
\nActivities conducted a significant number of investigations into money laundering
\ncriminal activities, as a result of possible execution of various economic nature,
\nmainly, crimes, through the abusive exploitation of Urban Non-Profits
\nof Companies (AMKE).
\nThe investigations led to the identification of related basic offenses and in
\nclarification of the methodology of their perpetration. In addition to these, methodologies were identified
\nlaundering of the monies obtained from the illegal activity and
\nthe commission of the basic offences, as well as related typologies of abuse
\nexploitation of AMKE. Also, an important part of this research is the recording
\nof certain red flags that can assist in detection
\nof similar cases by the involved Authorities & the persons subject to Law 4557\/2018.
\nFinally, certain weaknesses\/vulnerabilities of the system are identified and recorded,
\nwhich can be a springboard for the further armoring of the current one
\nlegislation with the inclusion of additional specifications and safeguards in
\nthis field, as well as for the more effective coordination of the co-authors
\nbodies, with the aim of mitigating the illegal profit-making exploitation of AMKE and
\nsimilar non-profit organizations and the fight against legalization
\nproceeds from related criminal activities.<\/p>\n
