Competent for the supervision of the implementation of the provisions of Law 4557/2018, as amended, the following Authorities and Bodies are designated by the obliged persons:
The Bank of Greece for:
• credit institutions,
• insurance companies and insurance intermediaries,
• financial leasing companies,
• third party business claims agency companies,
• credit institution receivables management companies from loans and credits,
• credit companies,
• electronic money institutions,
• payment institutions,
• the postal companies, in terms of the payment services provided,
• currency exchanges,
• the companies referred to in item 3 of article 3,
• microfinance institutions.
The Capital Market Commission for:
• portfolio investment companies until their introduction to a regulated market or multilateral trading mechanism,
• fund management companies,
• investment service companies and their affiliated agents,
• investment brokerage companies,
• venture capital companies until their listing on a regulated market or Multilateral Trading Mechanism,
• real estate investment companies until their introduction to a regulated market or multilateral trading mechanism,
• managers of alternative investment organizations,
• providers of exchange services between virtual currencies and fiat currencies,
• digital wallet custodian service providers.
The Securities and Exchange Commission maintains a register of providers of exchange services between virtual currencies and fiat currencies, as well as digital wallet custodian services.
By decision of the Capital Market Commission, specific issues regarding its observance and operation are regulated, as well as the supporting documents that the aforementioned providers are obliged to submit for their registration.
The Hellenic Police Headquarters for pawnbrokers and moneylenders.
The Commission for Accounting Standardization and Audits for certified public accountants and companies of certified public accountants, registered in the public register of the Commission for Accounting Standardization and Audits, as well as for private auditors.
The Independent Public Revenue Authority (A.A.D.E.) for:
• external tax accountants, legal entities providing accounting-tax services, as well as any other person who undertakes to provide, either directly or through other related persons, material assistance, assistance or advice regarding tax matters, as a main business or professional activity,
• real estate brokers,
• traders and auctioneers of high value goods.
The Gaming Supervision and Control Committee for:
• casino businesses and casinos operating on ships in Greece or under the Greek flag,
• the businesses, organizations and other entities that provide gambling services, as well as the agencies related to these activities.
The Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Human Rights for notaries and lawyers.
For the branches of financial institutions established in Greece, which have their headquarters abroad, the competent authority is the relevant authority of the Greek financial institutions that carry out corresponding activities with the foreign financial institutions that establish branches in Greece.
